Knitwear funday - round 5: Christmas Jumper Day results

This week’s voting has closed, and the people have spoken!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote.

There were fewer entries this week – but there were some crackers, including our first triple entry.

And now it’s time for your winners!

In joint second place we have Emma sporting a very cute looking Christmas robin.

And also in second place we have the king of DIY - Johnny and his homage to the Christmas tree.

Your winner(s) this week are the three not so wise men of IT.

And here is their entry on in all of it's original animated glory!

Not only are these lads looking super smart in their Christmas sweaters, they are also smarter than the Survey Monkey website which would only take their animated entry if it was in eight colours and the size of a postage stamp - goddamn you technology!

And as always to the victors go the spoils…

And here are the full results…

Round 5: Christmas Jumper Day - vote for a winner

Voting for Round 5 of Knitwear funday is now open.

Your job is to vote for the one you think is the best.  The only rule is you can't vote for yourself.

This week we were doing it for Christmas Jumper Day and raising money for Charidee.

There are only 5 entries this week, so either we're not that much of a giving bunch or a few of your were a little put off by accusations Save the Children are investing in Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms!!!

But as you'll see, the few entries we have this week make up for our lack of quantity with the fineness of their knitwear.

RESULT - Round 4: knitwear resurrection

Round 4 of knitwear funday has ended.

The votes have been counted and a favourite has been chosen.

But before we get to the winner...

This week in third place was:

Katy taking her ducks to Prague!

Not only was she in Prague, she also took the ducks…

And in second place was…

Steve (me) skiing in with my penguin buddy.

I'm particularly proud of this one as it's a selfie - and did you know it's really hard to manually focus a camera on a timer without something to focus on?

Any-who, not even my ski goggles could out-shine this week's winner...

Kurtis and his smoking Santa!

Winning on his first attempt Kurtis in one of my all time favourite jumpers.  What's not love about beard old people smoking pipes - and snow flakes coming out of them - I mean c'mon!

CONGRATULATIONS!

As always to the victor goes the spoils…

And the results looked like this

RESULT: Round three: rise of the knit

First off - thanks for being patient about the results.  Last night was the work quiz and I didn't get a chance to do this at home.  Now I know that I can't get away with posting in the office!

So, round 3 has ended and the knit has well and truly risen.

This week we had another great mix of entries:

  • Young & old
  • Inside & outside
  • Future knit and traditional styles

And this, along with the quality of the entries, probably made it really tricksy of you to choose the winner.

The results:

There were three entries that stood out above the rest.

In joint second place we had…

Ryan in his future knit - with ears.
Oh Ryan, always the bridesmaid, and never the bride!  On the plus side, I feel like the next round could be yours…

I called this a future knit because it reminded me of some kinda Logan's Run space-age sweater.

And also in second was Kirstie in her delightful bunny jumper.

It turns out that hangover really paid off!

And your winner for Round 3: rise of the knit is…

Steve (ME!) with my arms filled with dodgeball trophies and a crazed Santa sweater.

My favourite bit of this picture isn't the jumper or the ear to ear grin - it's Mike's with his stroppy face lurking in the background.  I think he thought he deserved the trophies!

As always to the victor goes the spoils!

NOT FOR KIDS

Midweek knitwear

With just one more sleep till round three closes I thought everyone could do with a little bit of a knitwear delight because…

This turned up in the shops, which you can own for yourself.

Nothing like Macaulay Culkin to put you in the Christmas mood.

You can't buy this though - at least not in normal clothes shops.

Maybe I could find it here somewhere like this?

And then there is this, which has nothing to do with knitwear…

RESULT - Knitwear funday Round 2: revenge of the knit

Week two of this season's Knitwear funday is now closed.

Round 3: the rise of the knit will open at 9am on Friday 29 and close at 12 midnight.

Round 2 was another excellent edition of jumper, sweater and even blankety entertainment (if I do say so myself.)

Before we get into the winners, a little more about this week's entries...

There were 11 entries, a few less than last week, but what was lost in quantity was made up for with the quality of the photography.

A few people really put in some extra effort to accentuate the beauty of their sweaters (I'm thinking of you Jacob and Cat!) and others let their amazing knitwear do all the work.

We also had a another double photo entry - which was really nice to see.

You then went and voted for your favourite.

In the end, this week, much like last week, there were two clear front runners right from the start.  However, as the results below show, one person in particular stole the show...

...so now for your winners!

In third place for the second week in a row it was Ryan and his dapper red golfer.

Another par three for Ryan.  And once again Ryan shows off a jumper that I want!

In second you voted for Jacob somewhere seriously rocky.

This was a great photo.  It was snapped in Cardigan Bay.  I think you should look into another line of work because you could be a man that models...

And your winner for round 2: "revenge of the knit" is...

Stephen and his rams

CONGRATULATIONS!

A smashing jumper, a fabulous smile and a great attention to detail (I love the blog in the background and the tasteful welsh mug in particular!)

As always to the victor goes the spoils:

And give this one below a couple of minutes... it's worth it!

And one more because it's rad!

RESULTS: Winner for "Round 1: let the fun begin"

Voting is closed for this week's Knitwear Funday.

Entries for Round Two: the revenge of the knit, open at 9am Friday 22 November and close at 12 midnight.

Now it is time for me to tot up the votes (actually Survey Monkey does all this for me... but let's pretend that I'm doing it.)

First a little context to the opening round.

This week had the largest number of entries for knitwear funday ever.

There were 17 smashing jumpers and cardies to choose from, snapped in many different places (my favourite location was Eleonore buying TP!)

Interestingly this did not make it that hard for you to choose your winner.  As you'll see from the results below, in the end it was a two horse race.

Watching the voting through the week, it looked like just one person was going win by a landslide.

However a late surge saw 80% of the votes cast in the last two days going to our eventual winner.

And now, the results!

In third place, you chose Ryan the Wolf-man.

If I was going to buy a jumper from this week's entries, it would be this one!

And in second place was Katrina and her hipster elephants.

The bright colours and even brighter smile made this one really stand out for me.

And your winner, for the first round of Knitwear funday for winter 2013/14 was...

Lionel in his triple jumper

CONGRATULATIONS!

I'm not too sure if it was the knitwear style innovation or the bad pun that did it!

I like to think it was your lovely cable knit cardy.

As always, to the victor goes the spoils...

Result: winter 2013/14 Champion of Champions

Last season I won.

I was pretty pleased about this - as you can imagine.  And I'm pretty sure the winner of this year's Champion of Champions will be too.

Now for your Champion of Champions...
We had 9 rounds of Knitwear Funday - with 12 winners, each with a smashing entry.  This made for a really tough field, but as Robert MacLeod says "there can be only one..."
And your one was...
Champion of Champions!
The eye of the tiger - Sarah in her dangerous white cat knit!
Congratulations lady face!
You were a clear winner with 25% of the vote.
Your trophy is in the post... (seriously!)

In the meantime here are your rewards...

And here's the band

And this is lovely!

The other placings were:
2nd Steve (me) in his (my) reindeer jumper 20% and 3rd equal in his (my) Vader knit 15%, also 3rd was Owen in his polar knit, 5th Scot in his Apres Ski knit 10%, 6th equal Shane in his office cardy 5%, 6th equal Claire - santa's little helper 5%, 6th equal Sarah in the essence of Christmas 5%.

Knitwear funday RESULTS: round 9 - knit minnit

Your winners for this week are all newbies (except third place, but this was only his second entry so I'm still gonna call him new...)

And without further ado, in thrid place you chose:

David and his Baywatch babe knitwear.  A challenging barbwire jumper remincient of Pammy Anderson's (nee Lee) infamous tattoo.

There was a close battle for the winner.  Most people voted for these two and only ONE VOTE seperated these two knitwear funday newbies.

In a very respectable second place, you chose Lionel, at Dodgeball in his sports sweater.

And your winner for this week was none other than Shane, aka Don Gacy.  His chuncky office cardy and charming smile were the favourite for most of you this week.

Welcome to knitwear funday Shane.

As always to the victor goes the spoils...

And one more treat because it's ace....

Knitwear funday RESULTS: Round 8 - the second wind

Apparently it was really hard to choose a winner this week - I know I struggled to choose the one I thought was the best.

This week there we three stand out entries - so much so that none of the other entries got votes.

Who is you winner?

Well you couldn't decide (collectively that is...)

and so we had a tie - a THREE WAY!

Your knitwear champions were:

Johnny's ode to the dark knight - living the caped crusader wet dream.

Kirstie cracking up with her quacker of an entry.

(I' so sorry I could not get your picture up the right way - I've tried EVERY SINGLE THING - and nothing works!)

And me using the force in my Vader knit.

As always to the victor goes the spoils... and since there were many winners...

Knitwear funday 2012 - The best of the rest

This was your chance to choose the best non-winning knitwear entry for 2012 (and just a smidge of 2013).

Every entry had come either second or third in the week where it was entered.

I know loads of people found it hard to choose a winner - but after a week of voting - you have finally had your say.

And the joint third place - best of the rest entries were:

Sarah in the green pearly knit.

One of the people who voted for you was my Aunt - because she had one just like it.  It would appear good taste runs in the family :)

And Vickki in her jumper knitted out of ALPACA wool.

In second place - and my personal favourite - was Mel with her addition to the hunting wall.

And the winner - that you voted for - was...

ME!

Those cute penguins really tugged at your heart-strings!

As always to the winner goes the spoils...
